Hi guys, it’s Dr. Olivia Avolio here.

Today we’re going to go through a technique that helps with optimal fetal positioning and the best part is that it can be done in the comfort of your own home. You just need three things you, your partner, and a couch. Now, the forward-leaning inversion is a specific technique that you can do that just creates some more room in your belly and your uterus so that your baby gets into a better position for birth. Even if your baby has already head down, it’s a really good thing to do because you can get that baby locked and loaded down into your pelvis and ready for a safe delivery.

Some moms even report that doing this technique just helps to release some low back pain, some hip discomfort, and some round ligament pain on the front of their belly. You do want to make sure that when you do this you have a partner at home. That way if you need to get out of the position quickly or you feel light-headed you can do so. The best thing to do is do this once a day and the best part is that it is only for thirty seconds or three breaths long.

We’re going to go through [this] together. So you’re going to come up on the edge of your couch, make sure your knees are right upon the edge there. Tie your hair back if need be. Then you’re going to come down onto your hands first and then down onto your elbows, you’re going to tuck your chin, and you’re going to be in this position for about thirty seconds long. You want to make sure that you just let your belly free float in this position and just hang out here as long as you can. When you come back up make sure you do this slowly if you need help, get some. Then you’re going to come back up and sit in this position for about one minute long and then back down onto your heels for another minute.

Okay, good luck.
