Starting Solids Consultation

Starting Solids Assessment for children 4-12 months old, with comprehensive individualized plan

This appointment is for caregivers who are looking for individualized guidance and support in the early months of introducing solid foods to your baby. This appointment can help for those who:

  • Are about to introduce solids for the first time and are looking for confirmation that baby is ready
  • Have already introduced solids but have questions or concerns about next steps or progress
  • Have already introduced solids and now have concerns about how baby is doing with solids and how to help

This appointment includes a 45-60 minute starting solids readiness check appointment followed by individualized recommendations and resources based on the assessment.

The readiness check includes a feeding history, physical and sensory screen, oral motor screen and review of family feeding priorities.

In this appointment, the Occupational Therapist will assess your baby’s development, looking at physical, cognitive, social-emotional status, adaptive behaviour and functional language skills for age-expected development.
