What is Prenatal & Postnatal Naturopathic Medicine?

Dr. Alexsia Priolo

Dr. Alexsia Priolo, Naturopathic Doctor, outlines what to expect after your first prenatal or postnatal visit.

So what is naturopathic medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is a form of primary health care where we’re blending traditional forms of medicine with contemporary scientific knowledge. So in our toolbox what we’re using are things like clinical nutrition, lifestyle techniques, botanicals, traditional Chinese medicines such as acupuncture in the hopes that we can help you achieve your health goals.

One of the main tenets of naturopathic medicine is the body’s ability to heal itself and so we’ll use some of the tools that I mentioned to help achieve that goal. Something else that you should know about naturopathic medicine is we like prevention. So what we really focus on is promoting health and preventing disease. If there’s a history of any diseases that run in your family typically what we’ll do is go ahead and give you the tools that you need to help prevent getting them down the line.
